KARAN SONI was born and raised in New Delhi, India before emigrating to Los Angeles to pursue an education and career in film & theater at USC. After his feature debut in Colin Trevorrow’s Sundance Award winning feature SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, Karan appeared in DEADPOOL and DEADPOOL 2 as ‘Dopinder’ and has had memorable roles in Paul Feig’s GHOSTBUSTERS, OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY , POKÉMON: DETECTIVE PIKACHU, ALWAYS BE MY MAYBE, and THE PEOPLE WE HATE AT THE WEDDING.

On television, he starred as a lead in the TBS series MIRACLE WORKERS, Starz’s BLUNT TALK, Amazon’s BETAS, and Yahoo’s OTHER SPACE and has appeared in SILICON VALLEY , BROOKLYN 99, THE GOLDBERGS, and WILL & GRACE among others. He co-wrote and starred in the Independent Spirit Award winning feature 7 DAYS, produced by the Duplass brothers. He has done voice work in films like Dreamworks TROLLS WORLD TOUR, Disney’s STRANGE WORLD and most recently in Sony’s worldwide smash SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE where he voiced Spider-Man India.

He made his television directing debut in July 2020 with an episode of HBO’s ROOM 104. He most recently directed on ABC’s EMMY award winning hit ABBOTT ELEMENTARY . He will next be seen in the indie features STEALING PULP FICTION, PAPER FLOWERS and A NICE INDIAN BOY which he also executive produced. He will reprise his roles for the studio features DEADPOOL 3 and SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE.

More about Roshan Sethi

Roshan Sethi is a physician, screenwriter and director who began writing as a student at Harvard Medical School and co-created Fox’s THE RESIDENT while finishing his residency. He still works part time in palliative care at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and serves on the faculty of Harvard Medical School.

Roshan is also the co-writer of CALL JANE, directed by Phyllis Nagy and starring Elizabeth Banks and Sigourney Weaver, which premiered at Sundance 2022. Roshan’s directorial debut, 7 DAYS, was released by Cinedigm and won the Indie Spirit’s Best First Feature Award in 2022. The film was produced and financed by the Duplass Brothers and stars Geraldine Viswanathan and Karan Soni. Roshan recently debuted his sophomore film, WORLD’S BEST, on Disney+. The film stars Utkarsh Ambudkar and was produced by Tommy Kail.
