More Oscar contenders with two films with a 1970s backdrop – Alfonso Cuaron’s Mexico City set “Roma” and Barry Jenkins returns with the Harlem set “If Beale Street Could Talk.”
There’s no excuse not to see “Roma” which is already on Netflix. It’s more of an experience film than plot driven but it’s so well done that it’s worth the ride.
If Beale Street Could Talk” which is adapted from the James Baldwin novel is experience with a few more dashes of plot. Stephan James, Kiki Layne, Regina King, Brian Tyree Henry, Dave Franco, Ed Skrein, Pedro Pascal, Diego Luna, and Finn Wittrock star.
