More about Slanted
Joan Huang idolizes the popular girls and dreams of being prom queen, but fears the only way to win is to look like all the past queens whose portraits line her high school halls. Enter Ethnos: a mysterious cosmetic surgery clinic that makes people of color appear white. Joan undergoes the procedure and wakes up a beautiful blonde destined for the crown, but at what cost? Blending sharp satire, sci-fi, and body horror, and starring Shirley Chen (Dìdi), Mckenna Grace (Regretting You), and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever), Slanted proves that identity is never only skin-deep.
More about Louis Theroux Inside the Manosphere
Louis Theroux’s first Netflix feature-length documentary sees him travel to Miami, New York and Marbella to meet a network of influencers and content creators at the heart of the extreme end of Manosphere.
The 90-minute film explores how key figures are helping to reshape young men’s ideas about masculinity and fuelling a resurgent global men’s rights movement.
Louis immerses himself in their ecosystem, encountering prominent figures within the movement, each presenting their own interpretations of traditional gender roles and values. He becomes familiar with some of their language, including terms such as “red-pilling”, and examines the appeal of these ideas and attitudes, as well as the perspectives of the women in their lives who appear to support them.
