Paul Walter Houser most recently starred as co-lead with Taron Egerton in Dennis Lehane’s 6-part crime-drama limited series BLACK BIRD for Apple TV for which he won the Golden Globe Award and the Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series. He also won a 2024 Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for the same role.
The voice of Embarrassment to Disney/Pixar’s huge summer hit Inside Out 2, Hauser can currently be seen in Apple’s The Instigators — which hit theaters August 2 before debuting on Apple TV+ on the 9th — as well as Tony Tost’s directorial debut Americana opposite Sydney Sweeney. Incredibly busy at the moment, he’s also set to star in a Chris Farley biopic for New Line, has recently production on Paramount’s upcoming Naked Gun reboot, and has landed a role in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four.
Most recently, he signed on for a role opposite Jeremy Allen White in 20th’s Bruce Springsteen pic Deliver Me from Nowhere. He’s currently in production is Australia shooting the Skydance/Amazon Studios comedy feature Balls Up starring opposite Mark Wahlberg which is being directed by Peter Farrelly.
Hauser is widely known for his scene-stealing performance as ‘Shawn Eckhardt’ in Craig Gillespie’s I, TONYA starring opposite Margot Robbie, Sebastian Stan and Allison Janney. Following the success of I, TONYA, Hauser landed another breakout role as ‘Ivanhoe’ in Spike Lee’s BLACKKKLANSMAN, which earned a statue at the 2019 Oscars.
Hauser gained critical acclaim from his performance in Clint Eastwood’s RICHARD JEWELL for Warner Bros. starring in the titular role opposite a star-studded supporting cast of Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm and Olivia Wilde. He later reunited with director Craig Gillespie in the new Disney franchise CRUELLA opposite Emma Stone and Emma Thompson in a very punky & fashion forward live action reimagining of 101 Dalmatians. He can also be seen as his fan favorite role “Stingray” in Netflix’s smash hit COBRA KAI having recurred in series since 2019.
